Important Notes

  • Only photos taken on the lands, waters, or within facilities of the participating federal agencies are qualified. Photos submitted featuring city or state lands and waters will be rejected.
  • Each photo can be entered in up to 2 categories. An overwhelming number of entries are submitted to Scenery & Seasons, while categories like Outdoors for All and History & Heritage receive fewer overall. Be thoughtful when choosing your categories!

History & Heritage

Honoring the people, places, and traditions that help tell the story of America’s past. From monuments and battlefields to re-enactments and cultural celebrations, we’re looking for images that reflect the rich heritage preserved in historical places.

Outdoors for All

Celebrating the range of activities and experiences available in public lands and waters. We’re looking for images that reflect people of all abilities recreating in nature and enjoying the outdoors. Photos featuring recreation activities, historical and multicultural experiences, and building connections in the outdoors are strongly encouraged.

Scenery & Seasons

Bridger Teton National Forest

Highlighting the natural beauty of every season. From fall foliage and spring blooms to winter snow and summer skies, we’re looking for images that capture scenic vistas, vibrant flora, and the striking landscapes of mountains, deserts, forests, lakes, rivers, seashores, and more.

Vacation Vibes

George Washington National Forest

Whether it’s a quick weekend escape or a long-awaited getaway, this category captures how you relax and recharge. Think hammocks, scenic picnics, cozy cabins, and carefree days outdoors. Show us how you vacation.

Wildlife
